allergic reaction to heart medication

Oh yes - and of course the fun part started as soon as we left for v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n-!!!

I've been suspicious for a few days - but it wasn't obvious until landing in Tampa that the burning sensation in my hands in feet was likely associated with one of my new medications. It felt like someone had doused me with acid. Nothing gave me relief. I emailed my surgeon ASAP and explained my symptoms. He put me on an antihistamine. It's working... for now. I may have to take it the entire time I'm on Plavix. I'm don't expect my episodes of fatigue to leave any time soon. So my doctor was right - if anything went wrong while on vacation, I could call or email, and the problem could be resolved with medication. I love him. All he wants me to do is LIVE my life. Amen to that!

We've mainly stuck to our hotel since arriving in Tampa. Our suite is beautiful. (I didn't book a suite, and am not sure how we made out with one, haha.) It's on the 16th floor, and has a view of the bay. We leave for Central America tomorrow, late afternoon. We already have our week planned while we're on the ship... Eat lots of lobster, nap on the balcony, and read by the pool. Very, very low key. In a way, I'm happy we had to cancel our dolphin swim and cave tubing in Belize. We are usually on the go, non-stop when we're on vacation. This time we're forced to relax. We have a 2 week Mediterranean cruise booked in January, that leaves out of Spain, and goes to Malta, Egypt, Turkey, Greee, and Italy. Usually when we're in Europe we're on our feet 24/7. I hope the cruise is a "gentler" way to see lots of sites without having to deal with hopping from country to country on our own. (Way to go off topic, Rachel. But heck, if I don't focus on the future, I'll start wallowing even more about how I feel "today".)

If I'm not back tomorrow, I won't be back until Monday the 8th. There's internet access on the ship, but I'm going to try and resist.

I hope to come back refreshed, and more at peace with all of these crazy symptoms.

Oh right - we're completely stearing clear of the hurricane. We may have choppy water and a little rain tomorrow, but that's all they expect. We'll be too far south/west to feel the brunt of it.

Till next time... Razzle
